A Note to Athletes:
I started the studio in 2010 with the intent of introducing those who are physically active to a style of yoga that would complement their training. Athletes tend to perform repetitive motions that develop some muscle groups while ignoring others and these imbalances can result in injury if not addressed. By taking the body through all three planes of motion, yoga imparts flexibility, balance and total body strength… and that translates into improved athletic form, efficiency and power.
Brief Background
Laura Igoe is a former cat 1 cyclist with five Master's National Championship titles. She has competed in over 15 marathons (PR 3:09) and qualified for 2012 World Ironman 70.3 Championships. As an athlete, you will recognize and appreciate the value of yoga, and you are going to see positive results.

While the lion share of Igoe 2 Yoga’s practice draws from traditional yoga tenets, there’s often a smattering of movements/postures that I’ve PIRATED from conditioning techniques for ballet, cycling, cross-country skiing, skating, etc.

While riding my bike, I observe hardy roadside vegetation like chicory, which thrives in sandy soil due to its long taproot that accesses moisture during droughts.
Deep roots anchor us & help us weather whatever obstacles come our way.

May is skin cancer awareness month. 20,000 Americans die from melanoma each year, including my sweet mom ๐
Melanoma is aggressive. My mom walked daily & we were planning a hiking trip to Crater Lake. A localized seizure in her foot resulted in testing that revealed stage 4 melanoma. 12 weeks later she died.
Know the signs (from AAD.org)
A is for Asymmetry
One half of the spot is unlike the other half.
B is for Border
The spot has an irregular, scalloped, or poorly defined border.
C is for Color
The spot has varying colors from one area to the next, such as shades of tan, brown or black, or areas of white, red, or blue.
D is for Diameter
While melanomas are usually greater than 6 millimeters, or about the size of a pencil eraser, when diagnosed, they can be smaller.
E is for Evolving
The spot looks different from the rest or is changing in size, shape, or color.
